This is José. He has been living in the US for decades, but a few months ago he was deported to Mexico, leaving behind sons, daughters, grandsons, job, and his whole life there. With only months living in Tijuana, José has been arrested and/or beaten dozens of times by the local police. Today he was going to try to cross back to US trough a dangerous route in Tecate. It's raining and the night is very cold. I wonder how he's doin' right now.

Este es José, también con décadas viviendo en Estados Unidos, terminó siendo deportado, dejando hijos, nietos, trabajo y toda su vida allá. Tiene unos pocos meses en Tijuana, viviendo algunos días en albergues y otros en la calle. Ha sido detenido y golpeado por la policía municipal decenas de veces. Hoy iba a tratar de cruzar de vuelta por el desierto. Está lloviendo y hace mucho frio, y no puedo evitar pensar en cómo le estará yendo.

Me dijo que si regresaba a Tijuana, aunque fuera en otras circunstancias, le gustaría ver que el trabajo que estoy haciendo hubiera servido para cambiar algo.

just curious, did you tell them to pose or you just candid them while they telling their story?
my eyes just cant stop look at all this serial pic you've made.

First I just listen to them, and after around 10 or 15 minutes, I ask for their permission. After that, I just keep taking photographs while they are telling me their stories.
